What does their favorite movie tell you about the candidates?

CNN asked some of the 2008 presidential candidates the question of the moment: what閳ユ獨 your favorite movie?

The following are their choices.

閳?Sen. John McCain, R-Arizona: VIVA ZAPATA (1952) (cnn)

閳?Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-New York: CASABLANCA (1942)

閳?Former Mayor Rudy Giuliani, R-New York: THE GODFATHER (1972) (cnn)

閳?Former Sen. John Edwards, D-North Carolina: DR. STRANGELOVE OR: HOW I LEARNED TO STOP WORRYING AND LOVE THE BOMB (1964)

(cnn)

閳?Gov. Bill Richardson, D-New Mexico: BUTCH CASSIDY AND THE SUNDANCE KID (1969) (cnn)

閳?Former Gov. Mitt Romney, R-Massachusetts: RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK (1981) (cnn)

Mike Huckabee - The Godfather, Citizen Kane, Casablanca, and To Kill a Mockingbird (myspace)

Barack Obama - Casablanca, Godfather I %26amp; II, Lawrence of Arabia and One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (flicker)

What does their favorite movie tell you about the candidates?

I think it tells you what movie they like.

What does their favorite movie tell you about the candidates?

that dummy romney is never gonna be prez nowm , trying to be hip

What does their favorite movie tell you about the candidates?

Funny, None of them mentioned "Brokeback Mountain", so this just shows they all have issues with homosexuality.

What, no porn!? :O

Update: Bush's favorite movie was "The Siege". Where do think he got the idea for 9/11? That movie! Spooky ain't it, as it was released in '98, well before the 2001 attacks on NY.

What does their favorite movie tell you about the candidates?

absolutely nothing, the point of movies is to be able to escape to a fantasy world that does not and will probably never exist. Why not focus on what they say and their actions than what is on their bube tube at night. At least they are home watching movies and not out having affairs, getting drunk or doing something illegal

What does their favorite movie tell you about the candidates?

Tells me Giuliani and Barack Obama should get together for drinks.

Seriously? Nothing. I doubt any of them answered truthfully all these answers are derived from PR reps. Its not like Hillary Clinton could admit her favorite movie is the Rocky Horror Picture Show, though living with Bill this long certainly suggests she's a fan.

What does their favorite movie tell you about the candidates?

why do they talk about their favourite movies? they should all be talking about

why america didnt sign kyoto

why america doesnt have free health care at point of access

why so many people in america get murdrered with guns

why america is prepared to go to war for oil

why there is such a division between the rich and poor of the world and of america

by talking about fave movies, all they do is show how ridiculous american poltics is. it is insulting that the US has so much influence on global politics, and yet this is the depth of american poltical debate.

i bet no one ever asked osama bin laden what was on his ipod.

What does their favorite movie tell you about the candidates?

Not much .....

What does their favorite movie tell you about the candidates?

Nothing

What does their favorite movie tell you about the candidates?

I heard Bush's favorite was RAMBO.

What does their favorite movie tell you about the candidates?

I say it says alot about them personal.

And gives hints about what they emulize.

Alot of it doesnt surprise me though.

Edwards - dr strangelove

Richardson - Butch Cassidy

Even Clinton - Casablanca

romneys Raiders, and Guliani's pick pretty much fall in line.

And Obamas Lawrence of Arabia speaks pretty much right on track with how he is.

McCain had to be out there with Viva Zapate, but hes an old fart and he sticks to what works.

Probably still has an old styled black and white T.V. and rotary telephone in his house -- because it kinda does seem like the person he is.

Casablanca for clinton is pretty much right on, but surprising at the same time.

No one likes ot see her as human...but it shows she has a sense of romance past that alligator skin she has to wear.

All in all,its a fun little humanizing topic..

maybe a better question woul be..what do voters think each of the candidates best movies would be.

I think Il ask that..for funs sake.

What does their favorite movie tell you about the candidates?

I must admit that I wouldn't have given Romney a chance in the past, because he was a Mormon. But when he said that his favorite book was 'Battlefield Earth' by %26lt;gasp!%26gt; L. Ron Hubbard, I had to give this guy a second look! I even have had to hide the book from my Christian friends; (they wouldn't even read it before judging it), ...and he admits that he liked it ...and in public! (It's really a terrific book, folks, despite the reputation of the author!)

And now, I'm beginning to like Romney more and more as time goes on. He likes 'Raiders of the Lost Ark', too! Wow! I, too!

I think it's important for the candidates to put forth information like this, because it has definitely changed my opinion about a person who I didn't even know. I would now give him an opportunity to say something to me because from his book and movie choices, he now seems to be more open-minded than I previously thought.
